Bishop Steve Completes Second Year of Living Our Vows Program
Bishop Stephen London has completed the second year of Living Our Vows, a three-year program for new bishops, sometimes referred to informally as “Baby Bishop School.” Consisting mainly of an annual one-week “residency” meeting in Virginia, the program is an initiative of the Episcopal Church and is a requirement for all new American bishops. Bishop Steve’s program includes bishops from Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Ecuador. In his first year of study, he received an introduction to being a bishop that included courses on self-care and psychological well-being, the diocese as a system, as well as critical incident workshops. In the second year, the bishops moved into strategic planning focusing on the importance of creating a safe, welcoming space for people to be heard. Bishops’ school students also work with a mentor throughout the program. Bishop Steve meets with Archbishop Colin Johnson once a month on Zoom. He says the opportunity to meet with Johnson, a retired Archbishop of Toronto and Moosonee, and Metropolitan of Ontario, who is currently Assistant Bishop of Niagara, is “a lifeline. He is someone with tons of experience and goodwill.” Next month, Archbishop Johnson will visit the Edmonton diocese to conduct an on-site visit and gain insight into how our synod office works. He has also offered to lead a seminar on the topic of Adaptive Change on Saturday, June 17, from 10 am to 3 pm, at Christ Church, 12116 - 102 Avenue NW, Edmonton. |
Bishop's Itinerary
Please hold Bishop Stephen London in your prayers as he serves parishes throughout the diocese and connects with our partners and friends beyond the diocese.

Starting at the Beginning an Introduction to the Christian Faith
Many people in today’s world have at best a "photo album" impression of the Christian faith: lots of snapshots and highlights, but no overview of the whole Christian story and how we are invited to participate in it. Starting at the Beginning is written to give that overview. What is the big story the Bible tells? Who is Jesus, and why is he important? Why is the Christian message called ‘the good news’? How can I become a Christian, and how can I grow in my faith? What does daily Christian living actually look like, in terms of prayer and Bible reading, participating in the church, learning the way of love and generosity, and making a difference in the world? Christ Church Mosaic: Affordable Christian Student Housing in a Community Setting Close to Downtown Edmonton!
There are just a few spots left for the 2023-24 school term for affordable community living for Christian students close to downtown Edmonton. Christ Church Mosaic (120th St and 102 Ave) is a house next door to Christ Church parish, where six young adults from various parts of the country live out their faith and their lives together. Attending a variety of schools and programs, these young people form an intentional Christian Community during the school year. Living as housemates, these residents work together to decide the “rule of life” that will shape their common experience over the course of the year. Supported by Christ Church Parish in their spiritual journey, Mosaic residents gather twice a month with parish volunteers to engage in Bible study and discussion. Apply to be a resident for the 2023-24 term by completing this FORM. For more infomation visit:
