Capital Region Interfaith Housing Initiative (CRIHI) Housing Ambassador Mike Van Boom takes a look at the history of affordable housing in the Netherlands in the July issue of The Neighbourly.
Also in the July issue, all faith and community partners are invited to the "Edmonton Faith Communities Talk Housing" event on September 6, at Evangel Pentecostal Assembly, from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm.
Edmonton Faith Communities, led by CRIHI, are gathering to speak to all political parties and levels of government on the urgent need for housing help for some of our city's most vulnerable citizens. It is hoped that two or three representatives from each faith community will sign up on Eventbrite.
Volunteers are also needed the morning of September 6, starting at 9:00 am, to help with setup and welcome guests, or to stick around to help with take down and cleanup after lunch.
Donate part of the lunch! We are planning to feed 200 people with an Interfaith feast, with contributions from a diverse crew of faith and cultural communities. We suggest each group sign up to contribute food for 50 under one of the following categories:
a. Main dish – four communities (labels helpful: ie. Halal, Kosher, Gluten-free, Vegetarian)
b. Salad – two communities
c. Dessert – two communities.
d. Special diets (ie. Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy free) – provided by CRIHI members.
