St. Andrew's, Camrose has a new website! Check it out here: https://www.standrewscamrose.ca/

You may think, "That's great, but our church is on Facebook; why do we need a website?"

When deciding how to promote or advertise your church, it is helpful to think about it from the perspective of the person searching for info about your church.

Social media is a great platform for existing church members and for those who already know about your church. However, if you want your church to be a beacon of light online to people searching for a church within the local area, chances are, they will not know you have social media accounts. To find your social media accounts, they need to know exactly what they are called. This can take time, as other churches in the area may have the same name!

Your parish website provides someone new to the area or to Christianity with relevant information about your church (where your church is, the times you meet) and to know more about your parish community's vision and values.

This information is not easy to convey on social media, and each social media platform is completely different. They also change fairly often, so what you may have added a year or two ago to a Facebook page may no longer be relevant or even shown anymore.

Social media is also a lot more prone to fads; many social media platforms were popular a year ago but are no longer in existence.

However, owning a website and a domain is like investing in the bricks and mortar of the digital age.

A website acts like the digital home of your church, from here you can integrate all of your various social media accounts, allowing your website to become a hub of activity, a place where people can come and go, and view all the latest news and happenings, which in an age where people are always on the go, having the ability to keep up with church throughout the week can be an vital link to the main church body!

Just as we connect with God in various and unique ways, we also connect to the church in different ways. Utilising a mix of social media and a website enables people to connect in various ways. (Source: https://churchedit.co.uk/)
