Buyé Bible School Update

Buyé Bible School Update

The Rev. Dominique Ciza, Diocesan Secretary in Buyé diocese, has sent a photo of 10 students enrolled in their first year of studies at the Buyé Bible School and reports that this is possible due to financial support from the Diocese of Edmonton.  The Buyé Bible School had been closed for some time, but reopened with emergency funding from Edmonton diocese in 2014. In the 2016-2017 academic year there were 17 students enrolled, 8 in first year and 9 in second year. Graduates of that class were ordained in 2018 and have begun serving in parishes throughout the diocese.

Parish Website Webinar

Thursday, March 14, 2019

Those who live intentionally as disciples are called to seek ways to proclaim God’s love, not only to our existing community, but to people who have yet to hear the good news of Jesus. Where can we find people? More often than not on their mobile phones and laptop computers. Nearly 90 per cent of Canadians (30.9 million people) are on the internet; seeking out an average of 3,238 unique web pages per month (2018 Canadian Internet Registration Authority Factbook).

Ascend Collective founder Matt Morrison and Edmonton diocese communications director Margaret Glidden will offer a Parish Website Webinar on Thursday, March 14, at noon. Topics will include:

  • How to Create a Welcoming Website
  • Building a Digital Presence in Your Community, Parish, Diocese and the Anglican Church of Canada
  • Introduction to the Ascend User Platform
  • Useful resources for your website toolbox
  • Question-and-Answer Session - Topic and/or question suggestions can be emailed in advance of the session to churched@edmonton.anglican.ca

Less Plastic for Lent

Great Ideas from Green Anglicans

This Lent (March 6 to April 14) we are challenged by Green Anglicans to turn from the sin of damaging God’s planet and hurting our neighbours by our over use of single use (throwaway) plastic. By 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish. Plastic is already entering into our drinking water. Plastic clogs our rivers, leaches into our soil and is one of the greatest challenges the planet faces.
