Bishop Jane a Candidate for Next Primate

Election to take place July 13 at General Synod in Vancouver

The Right Reverend Jane Alexander, Tenth Bishop of the Diocese of Edmonton, is one of five bishops nominated as the next Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Also nominated by the Canadian House of Bishops, which met in Niagara Falls, ON from March 25 to 29, are: the Most Reverend Ron Cutler of the diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada; the Most Reverend Gregory Kerr-Wilson of the diocese of Calgary and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert’s Land; the Right Reverend Linda Nicholls of the diocese of Huron; and the Right Reverend Michael Oulton of the diocese of Ontario.

It's that time of year again! Time to strap on your hard-hat and pitch in to build homes for hard-working Albertans who can benefit from "a hand-up, not a hand-out" through Habitat for Humanity. The HfH Interfaith Works Project calls on all faith-based groups to join in until June 5, 2019. A Weekend to Renew and Revive Your Faith

Cursillo 2019

Registrations are now open for the 2019 Cursillo Weekend, an opportunity for you to explore and expand your Christian life in a co-ed retreat setting, through guided discussion, prayer, music and fellowship. The weekend will be held at Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert, October 18-20, 2019. This weekend is open to singles, couples, and people at all stages of their Christian journey.

St. David's Improves Accessibility

Bishop Blesses Stairway Chair

Bishop Jane blessed St. David’s new stairway chair installations: one in the entranceway and another leading down to the basement hall, on Sunday, March 10, 2019. St. David’s children were thrilled to sit on the chair, as well as hold the Bishop’s crozier and mitre.  

St. David’s is now able to accommodate people unable to navigate stairs. People using walkers or those able to transfer from a portable wheelchair will be able both to attend services in the church and to participate in gatherings in our hall. The newly renovated “family washroom” is spacious enough to accommodate an assistant, if needed.

Mark 14 tells the story of Jesus setting the Passover feast with his disciples; Mark tells a unique account that says they all sang hymns before going out to the Mount of Olives on their way to the Garden of Gethsemane. The 2019 Social Justice Institute invites members of Edmonton area faith communities to come together for a one-day ecumenical workshop to share and learn how best to accompany and support refugees and migrants in our local neighbourhoods. The program will focus on stories from recent refugees who have made the Edmonton region their new home, and from those working within local community agencies and settlement agencies and faith communities who accompany them. There will be practical suggestions and resources about how members of faith congregations can become more involved in reaching out to their new neighbours.
