Edmonton Churches Help Support Seniors' Safe House

Local churches and individuals from many denominations join together around Christmastime to provide financial support to a housing provider to the homeless or those at risk in the Edmonton Capital Region. NRII is based on the biblical story of Mary and Joseph being forced to take refuge in a stable after discovering that there was no room for them in the inn in Bethlehem.

Treaty Talk: Sharing the River of Life

Treaty Talk: Sharing the River of Life

Treaty Talk: Sharing the River of Life is a 50 minute film produced by Pat Makokis (Saddle Lake Cree Nation) one of Canada’s most outstanding Indigenous leaders to better understand our collective responsibility to treaty. The purpose of the film is for people to connect as allies in reconciliation; to build understanding and bridges for better relationship and work together. Through the sharing of a traditional Cree understanding of natural law and treaty, it will explore and model how indigenous nations and non-indigenous allies in Canada can come together to transform racism and discrimination at a local and systemic level to build a future of mutual benefit. Join us Friday, November 29th at 7:00 pm at United in the Park: Sherwood Park United Church, 20 Fir Street, Sherwood Park. Lewis Cardinal, life long Human Rights advocate, and Cathy Bell, Indigenous Rights law professor, will be facilitating the Q&A session following the film screening. POSTER
