MINISTRY MOVES

Penners Called to 'New Place of Ministry'

Penners Called to 'New Place of Ministry'

The Rev. Myron Penner has resigned as rector of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Edmonton. His last Sunday in the parish will be November 24, 2024. He has accepted a position elsewhere in the "Worldwide Anglican Communion of Churches," but has not publicly shared the location. We are thankful for Myron's and Jodi's ministry in the Edmonton diocese and wish them well.

In his letter to St. Paul's parish, Myron writes: "...Your love and generosity for us and our family has been humbling and beautiful. Being your Rector has been a joy and a gift and Jodi and I count ourselves blessed to have been here among you. You have been Christ to us and we always will treasure our time with you and the relationships we have made here for the rest of our lives..."

Bishop Stephen London to Lead Rememberance Service in Jasper

Bishop Stephen London invites St. Mary's and St. George's Anglican Parish and Jasper community members to join him for a remembrance service at the corner of Miette Avenue and Geike Street in Jasper on Sunday, October 13 at 10 am.

People are welcome to join a prayer circle located outside the fenced-off property near the church sign which was spared when a wildfire burned down 358 structures (homes and businesses). The July fire consumed nearly everything on the church property, including the church, hall, rectory, and even the bell.

East Vancouver Churches Organise Benefit for Jasper

East Vancouver Churches Organise Benefit for Jasper

A member of First Lutheran Church in east Vancouver is organizing a benefit concert for the Anglican Parish of St. Mary’s and St. George’s, Jasper and the Jasper Community Team Society (Jasper Fire: Caring Community Fund).

When Claire Landry heard that wildfire had consumed more than 350 homes, businesses and several churches in Jasper last July, the news “hit close to home.”

Although Landry now lives in Vancouver, she was a resident of Jasper, from 1982 to 87, and made lifelong friends in the community.

Not Feeling Well? Please Worship from Home

Cold and flu season is upon us, and COVID persists in all its variations. As we spend more time indoors, it is becoming more difficult to contain germs and protect vulnerable members of our communities. Please remember that a minor infection for one person can develop into a major sickness for someone else. If you are feeling unwell (ie. have a cough, runny nose, sore throat, chest congestion, fever...), please stay home.
