Alberta Alongside Hope Reps Meet at National Gathering
While participating in the Alongside Hope (formerly called the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund) national gathering, held in Hamilton last week, Jeffrey Hanger, Edmonton Diocesan Rep, heard an Alongside Hope partner organisation about a project to help a community in Zimbabwe recover from a devastating storm. “It was no ordinary storm that took away homes, land, soil and livelihoods, leaving people stranded,” says Hanger. But Farai Gumisai, Agroecology Lead, Towards Sustainable Use of Resources Organization (TSURO) Trust, shared how he was able, at great risk, to get to the nearest town and summon help. “The TSURO Trust is now leading discussions on agroecology, agriculture that builds soil health, improves water quality, protects seeds, empowers women and makes communities more resilient in rural Zimbabwe. And Alongside Hope is there with them,” says Hanger. For more infomation visit: http://edmonton.anglican.ca/news/alberta-alongside-hope-reps-meet-at-national-gathering

St. David's Collects Winter Clothing for Neighbours in Need
Brrr... the cold weather has arrived! Out come the hats, scarves, mittens or gloves. Sadly, not everyone has a closet with winter wear ready to grab on a cold day. St. David’s gathered a prodigious collection of hats, scarves, mittens and gloves (we raided our closets for warm jackets, too) for the folks who visit The Mustard Seed Drop-In in Old Strathcona. We prayed, on Sunday, November 10, that folks receive warmth from these items and God's love. We included a petition for Pastor Eric Kregel and the staff, also giving thanks for their commitment to their work. The Rev. David Parker delivered the winter clothing to The Mustard Seed on the parish's behalf. Submitted by the Rev. Dr. Renée Desjardins, rector, St. David’s, Edmonton For more infomation visit: http://edmonton.anglican.ca/news/st-davids-collects-winter-clothing-for-neighbours-in-need |
