Christa Eisbrenner Ordained to Priestly Ministry of Welcome
Moments before being ordained a priest on the Eve of St. Nicholas of Myra, December 5, at All Saints’ Cathedral, the Rev. Christa Eisbrenner, exclaimed with a mix of confidence and joy: “I’m ready!” Eisbrenner says she has known since high school she would “serve God in ministry,” and graduated from seminary 25 years ago. In the ensuing years, she ministered in various roles worldwide including with a “conservative, evangelical church,” and was an adjunct professor at Taylor Seminary. In 2020, she and her husband Jason Eisbrenner, who was once a Baptist pastor, joined the online services of their local Anglican parish, Immanuel, Wetaskiwin, and “soon felt at home there.” “Although we have needed fresh eyes to see things the Anglican Way, we have embraced this historical and contemporary tradition of faith,” she says. ACW Members Give Thanks for Life-giving Relationships
All Saints’ Cathedral hosted two mid-week services on the same afternoon during the first week of Advent. Many of the participants in the Anglican Church Women (ACW) Reunion Communion service stayed on for the ordination to the priesthood of the Rev. Christa Eisbrenner. Bishop Stephen London welcomed ACW members to their annual gathering of worship and fellowship at the Cathedral. “One of the things I love about the ACW is that you are an active sign that we are not just individual and isolated churches across central Alberta, but we are a family of churches that gather to proclaim the Gospel and build each other up to do the work of ministry. “You embody our Anglican church vision that we are a diocesan-wide group that loves and supports each other to do ministry together.” For more infomation visit: http://edmonton.anglican.ca/news/acw-members-give-thanks-for-life-giving-relationships

Church Admin Cornertake a moment to reflect As we continue through Advent and look ahead to Christmas, which is often a very busy and stressful time of year for clergy and church staff, allow yourself a moment to reflect upon the season and remember why we do what we do. If you need additional admin support as you approach Christmas, please let the Diocesan Office know by emailing churched@edmonton.anglican.ca. While the diocese does not have unlimited staff/time resources, this season tends to be lighter for diocesan staff than it is for parish leaders and we will help if able. Wishing you all the very best over the next few weeks and as you enter the new year!! |
Beware of Email Phishing Scam
Clergy have reported increased instances of scammers using their email addresses to extort gift cards and/or money. If you receive an email from someone claiming to be the Bishop, another clergy member, or anyone needing help and asking for gift cards or money, please delete it. Clergy will not email you for money. *Note: clergy email addresses are not accessible by the general public on the diocesan website, except when a parish does not have a separate email address. |

Annual No Room in the Inn Advent / Christmas Campaign
No Room in the Inn appeals to the people of Edmonton and area churches at Christmas time to think about those living in our community who do not have adequate and safe housing. Some churches ask their members to contribute on Christmas Eve, some choose a Sunday in December and others contribute from the parish/congregation funds. This year the No Room In the Inn Campaign is supporting Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS). A new roof is needed for the YESS Youth Support Centre (YSC), an evolution in youth care and crisis management, providing a centralised place for those in crisis to get immediate support, stabilisation and assessment. Accompanying this invitation is a brochure that can be printed locally, as well as a page that describes more fully the work of YESS and its need for support. BROCHURE / YESS INFO |

Not Feeling Well? Please Worship from Home
Cold and flu season is upon us, and COVID persists in all its variations. As we spend more time indoors, it is becoming more difficult to contain germs and protect vulnerable members of our communities. Please remember that a minor infection for one person can develop into a major sickness for someone else. If you are feeling unwell (ie. have a cough, runny nose, sore throat, chest congestion, fever...), please stay home.
