The Diocese of Edmonton family lost three faithful members recently.

We learned of the deaths of the Rev. Robert Wild (formerly an Honorary Canon of All Saints’ Cathedral), and his wife Audrey, who died within a few days of one another this past week.

Robert Wild was ordained in Huron and served in the dioceses of Saskatoon and New Westminster before coming to Edmonton in 1981. He served at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury, Edmonton, and was made a Canon in the stall of St. David’s in 1984. He also served as the Chair of the Diocesan Development Education Committee and led Christian Education initiatives. Bob and Audrey married in 1983. They retired to B.C. in 1989. When Bob died, he was 97. When Audrey died, she had just turned 95.

We also mourn the death of Mary Dyck who was married to the late Rev. Peter Dyck. Mary died on February 26, 2025, in Edmonton. They had two children, Peter and Carol, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary’s funeral will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11 am, at St. Johns the Evangelist Anglican Church, 11111-57 Avenue NW, Edmonton.

We entrust our brother and sisters to your mercy.
You loved them greatly in this life; 
Now that they are freed from all its cares give them happiness 
and peace for ever. 
The old order has passed away;
Welcome them into paradise 
Where there will be no more sorrow,

All are being called to walk together in hope on Good Friday, April 18. You are invited to participate in the 45th Anniversary of the Outdoor Way of the Cross, an ecumenical prayer event along the streets of Edmonton’s inner city, and reflect on how the gospel values of Jesus apply to individual and public life today. The two-km walk will begin at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the First Peoples, 10821 96 Street. After the walk, soup, sandwiches and bannock will be served at Sacred Heart Church.
