Bishops Nominate Four Candidates for Primacy
Two former members of the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton were among four nominees chosen last week by the Order of Bishops for the election of the next primate of the Anglican Church of Canada. The nominees include Archbishop Greg Kerr-Wilson (Calgary), Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Northern Lights, and former dean and rector of All Saints' Anglican Cathedral, Edmonton; and Bishop David Lehmann (Caledonia), former rector of St. George's, Fort Saskatchewan. The other candidates are National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop Chris Harper and Bishop Riscylla Walsh-Shaw, suffragan bishop in the diocese of Toronto. Youth-led Festivals Help Edmonton Families Escape Cabin Fever
For two days during Spring Break in Edmonton and elsewhere in the province, March 28 and 29, the youth group of St. Paul's Anglican Church provided a carnival-like atmosphere for families in the warmth of St. Paul’s and St. Matthias church halls. As an Alberta Clipper snowstorm rolled into the area on Thursday, the youth group joined the congregation of Christian Fellowship (a Burmese church) and Little Angels Daycare to about 77 people indoors with booths of cotton candy, crafts, art, face-painting, friendship bracelets and balloon animals. Church Admin CornerGrant Funding Sources Looking for grant funding for your parish? Operational grant funding is typically unavailable to churches, but there are other options for community project-based grant funding. Grants can be a possible source of funding for churches, particularly if seeking funds for certain types of capital projects, such as accessibility upgrades, solar panel installation, or other areas that align with municipal or provincial priorities. When considering grant funding, carefully note the eligibility requirements, as many granting bodies do not allow funding to go to churches or other religious organizations. Taking time to determine eligibility can save hours or days on applications that will not go anywhere. Also, keep in mind that the Anglican Foundation of Canada has been awarding special ministry project and community partnership grants for 65 years. So, don't lose heart if your community or capital project doesn't qualify for a local community grant; it may be approved for an AFC grant.
