Please Pray for the Repose of the Soul of the Rev. Carol Canton

Sadly, we have learned that the Rev. Carol Canton died on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 87.

Rev. Carol was ordained an Anglican priest in 1985 in the Anglican Diocese of Montreal. She was a pioneer as one of the first wave of women ordained in the Anglican Church of Canada. She served as assistant priest at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in St. Lambert, Quebec; St. James and St. Mary’s Churches in Hudson, Quebec; and St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Edmonton, Alberta, before becoming Rector of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in St. Albert, a position she held until retirement. She was involved in Cursillo and, with her husband, the late Rev. Ray Canton, was instrumental in bringing TEC (Together Encountering Christ) to the Diocese of Edmonton in the early 1990s.

All are invited to her funeral, which will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2 pm (EST), at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Ottawa, Ontario. It will also be livestreamed. Her obituary can be found here: the Rev. Carol Canton.

Loving and merciful God,
We entrust our sister Carol to your mercy.
You loved her greatly in this life;
Now that she is freed from all her cares,
Give her happiness and peace forever.
The old order has passed away;
Welcome her into paradise
Where there will be no more sorrow,
No more weeping or pain,
But only peace and joy
With Jesus, Your Son,
And the Holy Spirit,
For ever and ever,
Amen.
