Awakening Your Purpose *REGISTER THIS WEEK*

Awakening Your Purpose *REGISTER THIS WEEK*

a conference to help deepen your discernment of God's call - Saturday, February 21, 2026

THIS IS YOUR FINAL WEEK TO REGISTER! Don't miss this opportunity.

Have you ever wondered about how God is calling you? Are you looking for ways to grow in your Christian life? Is the Holy Spirit nudging you to go deeper? We often hear about 'vocation' in relation to a call to ordained ministry, but it's much bigger than that! This conference is for everyone, whether you are looking for ways to refresh your life of discipleship, beginning to wonder about ordained ministry, or exploring any of the multitude of other ways to follow God more fully.

Register now for the Awakening Your Purpose one-day conference. We'll hear from inspiring lay leaders on how they live their sense of vocation, reflect prayerfully on discernment in the Christian life, and leave with new pathways to explore.

Saturday, Feb. 21, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at Good Shepherd, Edmonton (15495 Castle Downs Rd NW). Gather at 9:30 am for coffee, tea, and displays on spiritual and vocational formation opportunities. The program begins at 10.

We are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16)

Lenten Book Study on Zoom

Lenten Book Study on Zoom

L Is for Lifestyle: Christian Living that Doesn't Cost the Earth - Tuesdays March 10 and 17, 2026

A is for Activism, B is for Bananas and C is for Creation: These are the opening three chapters of L is for Lifestyle: Christian Living That Doesn’t Cost the Earth. This book is a thoughtful, practical, and deeply biblical invitation to rethink how we live as Christians in a consumer-driven world. The author, Ruth Valerio, explores how small, intentional lifestyle choices—around food, money, possessions, and energy—can become acts of discipleship that honor both our neighbors and the planet.

This Lenten book study is for those looking for meaningful discussion about stewardship, justice, and faithful living. It is also for those who want to live more simply—not out of fear, but out of love for God and creation. Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10 and Tuesday March 17 on Zoom. Zoom link to follow in the next few weeks.

This study is sponsored jointly by Holy Trinity, Edmonton, and the 5th Mark of Mission Committee. For more information, contact the Rev. Suzanne Oswald.

Church Admin Corner: Updating Your Directory

Church Admin Corner: Updating Your Directory

When was the last time you updated your church directory?

It is recommended that the parish do directory maintenance every year or second year, as regular maintenance is key with any database. This is not only useful for keeping in touch with members of the parish, but it is also required when submitting the diocesan statistics.

Parishioners often forget to notify the parish of changes to their address, phone number, or email. Asking all members to submit those items annually (even if they have not changed) ensures the directory is kept current. This also allows the parish to easily identify families/individuals they have not heard from in a while, which enables clergy or parish volunteers to know how to reach out.

Please also take this opportunity to review your directory's security and who has access to it. Scammers sometimes pose as a new parishioner to gain access to church directories, or copy personal information that is available publicly. They then use this contact information to send fraudulent requests for money or gift cards.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, February 18, 2026

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a 40-day season of preparation for Holy Week and Easter. This simple Eucharist service calls us to observe a holy Lent, to enter this sacred season together, and to prepare our hearts through prayer, giving, self-examination, and penitence.

All Saints' Cathedral is holding two Ash Wednesday services, at 12:10 pm and 7:00 pm. All are welcome.

Please also check with your local Anglican Diocese of Edmonton church for other Ash Wednesday services in your area.

Holy God,
our lives are laid open before you:
rescue us from the chaos of sin
and through the death of your Son
bring us healing and make us whole
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Conversations for Mission: An AGM Field Guide

Conversations for Mission: An AGM Field Guide

Our Annual Meetings of Parishioners create a wonderful opportunity to talk together about the mission and purpose of our Christian communities as they gather to select leaders and plan for the year ahead. A dedicated time during the AGM to discuss and pray about the mission of the community can be a powerful catalyst for that mission and for drawing the members of the community together around that Christ-centred mission.

Download this "field guide" prepared by the Rev. Nick Trussell, Coordinator for Missional Renewal, for short conversations you can use during your annual meeting to spark missional conversations and help your congregation plan for the future.

Lent with Alongside Hope: Taking the Wild Paths of Peace

Lent with Alongside Hope: Taking the Wild Paths of Peace

exploring a path of peace amidst chaos, with Jesus as our guide

Sign up to receive Wild Paths of Peace, a Lenten resource from Alongside Hope:

Wild Paths of Peace, written by Martha Jarvis, explores the unexpected hope of peacemaking at time of conflict in the world and in our personal lives. As the Anglican Communion’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Jarvis works to create partnerships between churches and UN teams as they respond to conflict, climate change and forced movement of people. Jarvis has also facilitated church-led peacemaking in South Sudan and Mozambique. Throughout it all, she’s seen nothing that compares to the power of people coming back together after conflict, and ultimately, coming back to faith through Jesus.

This resource will be available for download, or subscribe to receive it as a free daily email message throughout Lent (beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026).

Spread the Word - Support Each Other and Our Ministry

Spread the Word - Support Each Other and Our Ministry

we are happy to help spread the word

Part of what unites us as a family of churches is the support we give one another and our ministries. We can do this by sharing our news and events (e.g., youth gatherings, parish fundraisers, worship services, community outreach, public lectures) here in the Synod Scene, the diocese's weekly e-newsletter. We have created a form to simplify this task. Click on the button below to upload a graphic or picture (horizontal / landscape orientation; 1500x784 px), and your brief news/event information. Submissions must be received by Tuesday at noon for inclusion in the current week's newsletter. Because the Synod Scene is public and posted to the diocesan website every week, please use parish (not personal) contact information in your submissions whenever possible. Have questions?
