Parishes planning projects that affect the building or property of the parish may require diocesan approval prior to beginning any building or other capital project. There are three main project levels:

  • Projects under $20,000.00: Project requires approval from parish Vestry and does not require congregational or diocesan approval.
  • Projects between $20,000.00-$50,000.00: Projects requires approval from parish Vestry as well as approval at a Meeting of Parishioners but does not require diocesan approval.
  • Projects over $50,000.00: Requires approvals from Vestry and Congregation, as well as recommendations from diocesan committees including Innovative Stewardship, Administration and Finance, and final approval from Executive Council.

Full details of approval process for each level may be found in the Capital Project Approval Process document linked below. Note: Projects costing more than $50,000 are not to be split into pieces, nor is a contractor to issue multiple smaller invoices to avoid needing diocesan approval.
