Applications are now being accepted for the next Edmonton Anglican Cursillo Weekend, to be held from November 7 to 9, 2025, at the Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert.

The weekend runs from early Friday afternoon to late Sunday afternoon. It revolves around a series of talks given by a team of laypeople and clergy. Small group discussions follow the talks. Planning any fundraisers for this fall? The sky is the limit when it comes to fundraising opportunities!

When considering fundraising activities, take a close look at the makeup of your parish and the community at large to determine if the fundraising activity aligns with community needs. For example, a spaghetti and meatball supper might sound delicious, but if half of your parish is gluten-free and/or vegetarian, it may not be a good fit. Or, holding a bedding plant sale in a community where most parishioners live in apartments might not be successful. A fundraiser that works extremely well in one parish could flop in another.

The Diocese of Edmonton Children's Choir (DECC) welcomes young singers in grades two and above to register for its 2025-26 season, beginning September 17. The choir will rehearse on Wednesday evenings, 5 to 6 pm, at Christ Church, 12116 - 102 Ave, Edmonton.

The choir conductor, Laura Hawley, has extensive experience leading children's choirs in the Anglican faith tradition and choral conducting.

There is no cost to join the choir, which is supported by a "Say Yes! to Kids" grant from the Anglican Foundation of Canada. REGISTER TODAY! 

It's all hands on deck as Holy Trinity, Edmonton (corner of 101 ST and 84 AVE) hosts 15 Edmonton Fringe Festival performances this week until August 24.

A much-loved Bring Your Own Venue (BYOV) in Old Strathcona, Holy Trinity has three stages: the Sanctuary Stage, the de Villars Jones Stage and the Bliss Stage. In addition, audiences can sit and sip in the Club Kunitz outdoor tent before and after shows. The tent will be family-focused until 2 pm daily, with bubbles, chalk, juice boxes and yummy kid-friendly snacks! 

Downstairs, in the lovely garden tea room, theatre patrons can sip a refreshing cup of tea (hot and/or cold) while enjoying a fresh-baked scone with clotted cream and delectable jam, daily throughout the festival, from noon to 5 PM, except on Sundays.

Grab your lawn chairs and blankets, the Christ Church Garden Concert Series is into the final month of its fifth year. Held at Christ Church, 12116 102 Ave NW, Edmonton, on Wednesday evenings, from 7 to 8 pm, these free performances attract audience members from the neighbourhood of Wîhkwêntôwin (Oliver) and from all over the city to enjoy music in the lovely gardens. The series offers a diverse musical lineup, from jazz, world music, folk, roots and Indigenous to classical. 

You are invited to march with the Anglican Queerly Beloved team in the Edmonton Pride Parade on Saturday, August 23. The parade will begin in Churchill Square, downtown Edmonton, at 1 pm. It will loop around to the Fan Park, 10104 104 Ave NW.

Wear your colours and comfortable walking shoes in solidarity with the 2SLQBTQ+ community and invite your friends and family to do the same. This event is free and open to everyone. All ages welcome. Click the button below to register.

Since 2018, parishes in our diocese have raised funds through an autumn coffee-hour appeal, inviting individuals to give $5 to make a difference in the lives of many of our brothers and sisters living in Burundi.

Last year, people of the Edmonton diocese raised $8,077 for the Buye diocese to purchase medical cards. Each card costs $5, enabling people to save 80 per cent of the cost of medical care for a full year. Sadly, this coverage is out of reach for most people living in the Diocese of Buyé. 

"Throughout September, we encourage each parish to hold a collection dedicated to purchasing medical cards. All funds collected go directly to this worthwhile cause, and there are no administrative fees," said the Rev. Rebecca Harris and the  Rev. Danielle Key, who started the initiative six years ago.

Aaron Parker, a local musician, video producer and member of the Edmonton Anglican parishes of St. Augustine’s and St. George’s (where he leads music twice a month), has launched a website and crowdfunding appeal for Traditional Approaches to Healing (TATH), an Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton)-based initiative.

Started eight years ago, by Cree Elder Russell Auger in partnership with E4C, in response to the community's need for emotional and psychological healing, the circle group, now under the umbrella of the Lodgepole Communitas, meets year-round in eight-week cycles at St. Faith’s Anglican Church, 11725 93 ST NW, Edmonton.
