Now Hiring: Lay-Led Parishes Coordinator
The Diocese of Edmonton is hiring a Coordinator for Lay-Led Parishes. A growing number of our communities are led by lay staff and volunteers. This mode of being an Anglican community comes with unique gifts and challenges. This position will develop supports and systems to help these parishes find renewed viability and vitality as the lay leaders hold mission and ministry for their communities. You will work with diocesan staff and volunteers as well as directly with the lay-led communities to coordinate their facilitation, education, and oversight needs. As most of these parishes are in rural areas of the Diocese of Edmonton, you must be able to travel. This is a quarter-time position for one year with a possible one-year extension. The application deadline is Thursday, June 4. For more information, see the POSITION DESCRIPTION. |

Alongside Hope: Light for St. Luke'shelp bring reliable electricity to St. Luke's Hospital in the West Bank St. Luke’s Hospital in the West Bank is operated by the Episcopal (Anglican) Diocese of Jerusalem. Alongside Hope has been supporting this ministry for many years, and more especially during the current war. St. Luke’s serves a population of about 455,000 people, including 57 marginalized villages and four nearby refugee camps. But unreliable electricity and costly fuel make health care delivery a challenge in the best of times. During the worst of times, it becomes a crisis. In partnership with the Diocese of Jerusalem, Alongside Hope is funding the purchase and installation of 407 solar panels for St. Luke’s Hospital. “Light for St. Luke’s” will cost $352,000. “This is a strategic investment in energy security and operational sustainability,” says the Very Reverend Hosam Naoum, Archbishop of the Diocese of Jerusalem. “It will enable the hospital to function reliably under challenging conditions and contribute to a more environmentally friendly and sustainable approach by lowering carbon emissions. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Alongside Hope for supporting this vital project. It represents a transformative step in strengthening the hospital’s resilience and ensuring the continuity of life-saving services, especially in times of emergency when electricity cuts and fuel shortages are frequent and often prolonged.” For more information, visit alongsidehope.org/light-for-st-lukes Alongside Hope is the Anglican Church of Canada’s agency for sustainable development and relief. Since 1958, we have worked hand-in-hand with trusted partners in Canada and around the world on a journey of positive change. Together, we are improving health, food security, and livelihoods where needs are greatest. Alongside Hope receives donations from people across Canada – Anglicans as well as non-Anglicans – and also receives funds from other sources, including Global Affairs Canada and institutional donors. Our volunteers promote Alongside Hope programs in churches and communities, to raise money and awareness about the needs of vulnerable people around the world. Our staff in Toronto are careful stewards of these funds and work to ensure that development and relief programs are as efficient and effective as possible. Alongside Hope is committed to working in diverse communities and does not proselytize in its work. - from alongsidehope.org |

Thy Kingdom Come Continues This Weekglobal ecumenical prayer movement - Ascension to Pentecost From thykingdomcome.global: Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension [May 14] to Pentecost [May 24] for more people to come to know Jesus. Since it began in May 2016, God has grown TKC from a dream of possibility into a movement which unites more than a million Christians in prayer, in nearly 90% of countries worldwide, across 85 different denominations and traditions- so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ. Every person, household, and church is encouraged to pray during the 11 days in their own way. It is our hope & prayer that those who have not yet heard the Good News of Jesus Christ and His love for the world will hear it for themselves and respond and follow Him. Specifically, we again invite each and every Christian across the globe to pray that God’s Spirit might work in the lives of 5 people who have not responded with their ‘Yes’ to God’s call. To pray is to share every part of yourself and your life with God. To pray together is to share our lives with God and in the work of God; moving closer to God, to each other and the world. Let us pray together Thy Kingdom Come. - Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally Watch the trailer on YouTube. Download resources for your congregation.

This allows for such items to be a resource for historical research for generations to come. Included in this is:
Items for archiving should be prepared by the parish and sent to the Synod Office for review. The Synod Office will then forward items on to the Provincial Archives for safekeeping. Spread the Word - Support Each Other and Our Ministrywe are happy to help spread the word Part of what unites us as a family of churches is the support we give one another and our ministries. We can do this by sharing our news and events (e.g., youth gatherings, parish fundraisers, worship services, community outreach, public lectures) here in the Synod Scene, the diocese's weekly e-newsletter. We have created a form to simplify this task. Click on the button below to upload a graphic or picture (horizontal / landscape orientation; 1500x784 px), and your brief news/event information. Submissions must be received by Tuesday at noon for inclusion in the current week's newsletter. Because the Synod Scene is public and posted to the diocesan website every week, please use parish (not personal) contact information in your submissions whenever possible. Have questions?
